I love the 90's

Because of my lack of time lately, there has been a shortage of presentable outfits for this little lady. I'm completely immersed in my senior thesis right now that I've been practically living at school. That means there is absolutely no time to shoot any looks. That also means I look like a hot mess everyday, minus the 'hot' and emphasize on the 'mess'.

Since I'm currently listening to the Spice Girl station on Pandora and writing this post in FIT's computer lab at 4am , I want to warn you that I'm slightly delirious and completely intoxicated with junk food. The only good thing to come from this other than a nice shade of red coating my eyeballs is my idea to do another post on what movies inspire my wardrobe. I previously posted about my top movie picks here. Tonight (This morning?) I decided to focus on some killer 90's movies with sick wardrobes. If you know me outside of the blogosphere, you would know that I'm completely obsessed with the 90's so this is a topic I know very well. Spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't seen these movies! First up...

Wish Upon a Star : "I wish I were Alexia Wheaton, I wish I were Alexia Wheaton, I wish I were Alexia Wheaton". No but really, I wish I were Alexia Wheaton. I would have to say this is one of my favorite Disney Channel movies of all time. They don't make them like this anymore. I was completely envious of her closet when I was what? 6 years old? Ugh just look at her sandals! And that skirt! Not to mention what her friends are wearing. Give me that daisy dress please and thank you.

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion: Not only is this movie fucking hilarious, but these girls really got it going on. So much spunk in what they wear throughout the entire movie. Plus, they become fashion designers in the end. It's gotta say something about their fashion sense. They've got 90's written all over them. Plus every time "Time after Time" comes on my iTunes I just want to crash a high school reunion and recreate their dance scene.

Wayne's World: Party Time! Excellent! What is there to say other than this movie rules to the Nth degree. I still wish to this day to party with those dudes. Ripped jeans, T-shirts, Flannels, and Chucks. Helllloooo, 90's 90's 90's. Not only do I love they way Wayne and Garth dress, but I adore Casandra. That woman is one badass chick. I've always wanted to be a lead signer of a rockband like her.

Dick: This movie was pretty silly, but Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams looked bitchin' in it. All I really have to point out are these amazing American flag outfits they're rockin'. After I saw this, I wanted so badly to cut up a ton of American flags and make bell bottoms and halter tops out of them. Maybe I will still?

The Craft: Last but most certainly not least, The Craft. One of my favorite movies of all time. These girls got the Gothic School Girl thing down to a T. Ugh, I can't even express to you how much I love their outfits. I'd wear everything in this film. And you bet your ass I most definitely tried to do "Light as a feather, stiff as a board" with my friends after I saw this movie. I'm pretty sure at one point in my childhood I thought I was a witch. Made spells, potions, and everything. Don't judge me.

So there you have it, 5 of some of my favorite 90's movies. Trust me when I say I can make this list ten times longer. Unfortunately I don't have time to nor do I want to bore you to death. I'm getting sleepy...I should probably get back to doing my work now...byeeeezzzZZzZzZzZzzz.

  1. omg.. Wish Upon A Star! I completely forgot about that movie. I loved it so much as a kid! I'm totally going home tonight and digging that one out.

I'm also a huge fan of the 90's grunge/goth look, but don't pull it off as well as you do! Good luck on your thesis! Oh, and Spice Girls Pandora? definitely need to hear that one.

  7. I loved Wish Upon a Star & The Craft. The kids that watch Disney now a days don't know what they missed. Its so weird seeing how Katherine Hiegl became a great actress. I definetly miss the 90s as well. The music, fashion, tv, everything about it. Gread post.'
