Forever ago

Threads: Dress - c/o Sugarlips Apparel | Bag - Thrifted in Rome | Sunnies - Camden Market in London

There are two things I want to discuss today. First how awesome the blogging community can be! Joellen of Joellenlove was in New York like forever ago and I'm just now posting the photos. We hung out for a little bit in Williamsburg so I could show her the waterfront and the flea markets my little Brooklyn has to offer. As lame as this may sound, blogging is really a great place for people to connect.  Luanna of Lehappy  and Rachel of Le Style Child & The Style Line are both lovely ladies that I 'met' through blogging (even though the 3 of us also attend(ed) the same college) that I now consider close friends of mine. And I'm not talking emails/comments back an forth, I'm talking, "Hey Rachhhh, wanna get ice cream?" or "So what are we drinking tonight Lua?" Honestly, blogging has introduced me to some amazing human beings and I'm forever grateful for that. <--- Super corny. Whatever, I'm a dork who loves the internet, get over it.

The second topic for discussion is that little "c/o" up there. Sugarlips Apparel was kind enough to send me the lovely dress in which I actually LOVE. It's great for the summer because I can wear it to work or out for evening drinks. I don't feel limited with this style. Plus, the great detail down the dress makes for awesome ventilation in the heat. Now, I'm not just saying this because they sent me this dress, I'm saying it because I genuinely like this dress. I've come to notice that many bloggers just take things from brands because they're free. This is something I do not encourage. I believe bloggers should endorse brands and companies they actually feel passionate about representing. I think Sugarlips is a great team to work with and they've rebranded themselves into something very consumer friendly. They work super well with bloggers and from what I've received from them, their quality is great. But with that said, I don't think I'll be taking on anymore sponsors unless I'm approached by a brand I would literally cut my left leg off for. My wardrobe does not consist of free clothes, so I'd rather keep my blog that way as well. I want to show you what I've thrifted and created, not what was given to me from a site I wouldn't normally buy from. I'm all for free shit, but not when it compromises my personal style.

    1. hmm that's odd, did you ever get it? They're usually pretty good with sending you their stuff within a few days of selecting it.

  6. I love how blogging helps all of us meet people from all over. It really connects us, which sounds very nerdy, but it's true! Also, I love the photos! The skyline and your dress are lovely. ^^

  7. SOOO jealous of that thrifted Roman bag! I wish I could find something like that here in Paris. Can you believe I was in Rome for 5 whole weeks and I never ONCe went to a thrift store!? Major regret.

You look beautiful in that summery Sugarlips dress, and I just love how you've paired this Mexican-inspired purse with the white of the fabric. You look stunning.

    * I love love love your header! Such a great, simple and amazingly elegant design.

    1. 5 whole weeks and you never went thrifting!! omg, that was the first thing I thought of when I got there...then I thought about the historical monuments hahah. If you ever go back and want a list of Roman thrift stores, let me know! But honestly, I did the best thrifting in Paris! I found soooo many great things in Paris, I think it was my favorite country I visited.

But thank you so much for the kind words! I designed and made that header myself, so I'm very proud of it! haha

  8. I totally get what you're saying about wearing things from brands with real integrity. Sometimes it makes me wonder when I look at a blogger, because sometimes it comes off as if they're only wearing it because it was sent to them. I would love to partner with brands but I couldn't imagine myself wearing something that I didn't truly like. How would you handle it if they sent you something you didn't like?

    1. I'm glad you understand! But I think if I got something I didn't like, I'd honestly send it back and not wear it. A. it wouldn't be right for me to endorse something I wouldn't actually purchase or want and B. I'd send it back because it's such a waste to receive something and have it lying around my apt because I'll never wear it.

  10. I agree, bloggers need to maintain some level of respect for their readers and be honest in what they promote.
